The customer

The most sustainable protein producer.

Mowi is one of the world’s largest salmon producers and a leader in sustainable protein. In 2023 the company had a turnover of EUR 5.5 billion, and it is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Foamico has worked with Mowi for more than five years. It started with rented Mobile Units. They proved efficient and reliable, so when Mowi grew, it chose a fixed system.

The setup

12 Main Stations and 10 NEXT Satellites.

The Main Stations are placed across the plant, so every area of production is covered. Each one supplies pressurised water to the Satellites around it.

The NEXT Satellite has no separate on and off handle. Every function sits on one handle on the side of the unit, and the NEXT block lets the team work with three chemicals.

The challenge

The wrong nozzle wastes water.

In a busy plant, cleaning teams often skip changing nozzles to save time. If the foam nozzle is used for rinsing, the flow can pass 45 litres per minute, and sometimes 100.

That costs water, energy and money on every shift, and nobody sees it happen.

The solution

FlowGuard stops the water.

FlowGuard shuts off the water when the flow goes above 45 litres per minute. If the wrong nozzle is fitted, the water stops until the right one is in place.

Without FlowGuard, the cleaning process used 55 litres per minute. With FlowGuard, Mowi stays at 30 litres per minute, the optimal flow for the rinsing nozzle.

The value

About €105,000 a year.

At the Danish water price of DKK 10.80 per m³, the annual savings come to about DKK 780,000, or around €105,000.
